Lecture Series, Wintersemester 2017/18

“Vom Wissen zur Gewissheit: Evidenzpraktiken in Wissenschaft, Medizin, Technik und Gesellschaft”

Location: Lecture Theatre 605, Marsstr. 20-22, München
Time: Thursdays, 17.15  – 18.45 (see below)

Evidence and knowledge is becoming increasingly important for political, social and individual decisions, even if there is talk of an impending “post-factual age”. Evidence is based on scientifically collected data, but is also a social phenomenon. The lecture series combines perspectives from the history of technology, practical philosophy, sociology of science, medical history and ethics, marketing and consumer research, as well as the history of science and the environment. It is held by lecturers, who each give insights into their specialist areas. The event is aimed at both students and the interested specialist public.  The majority of lectures will be conducted in German.
