New Project: „The De- and Restabilising of Evidence in the Corona Crisis“

In autumn 2021, as part of the DFG Research Group, a new project “The De- and Restabilising of Evidence in the Corona Crisis” will begin. The project aims to investigate how the production, negotiation, and communication of biomedical evidence takes place within the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic. The Mainz project strand examines the role of social media as a discourse space for conflicts of evidence. The idea behind the project is, that media spaces represent places of negotiation for evidence, which have a specific relevance for the contemporary relationship between science and the public. On social media, the boundaries between science and the public, the internal and non-scientific public, are relativized.
